April 9 and 10, 2013

 April 9, 2013

Got up early today, wishing for that magic phone call from the great wizard of Red Bay. Or as one of our fellow campers refers to him as the man who controls the "Jail at Tiffin", yep the warden. He does keep all 90 plus units in line, in order, and at his beck and call. As you probably noticed, Robin did not start this blog today. I did and I think my anger managment classes are failing.

Oh well, the phone call did not come this morning so I called my oldest brother, Doug. Not to complain but to wish him a Happy Birthday, 59 I do believe. However, times like these we do miss all of our family and friends to lean on. We will keep in touch as much as we can and please don't hesitate to call or email us either.

Hold on, it's in the afternoon (2:30) and we were in the big town of Red Bay at Fred's Dollar store. Needed a pencil sharpener. You know the kind, just the hand held one that will drop the shavings all over the place. I almost had a heart attack when the phone rang and I reconized the number. It was the the wizard/warden from Tiffin service center. He said get your motorhome in here now. I said YES SIR. They were going to work some over time hours and start on our unit.
We rushed back and pulled it into the bay, number 17 out of 49. They began to cut into the top to replace the cracked side piece. I thought Robin was going to cry when she heard the saw start cutting "Miss Buttercup". Yes, we actually have named our motor home Buttercup after the gorgeous fields of buttercups we saw while riding our motorcycle on the Natchez Trace Parkway. They worked on it until 4:15 at which time we pulled back into our slot for the night.

Went out to a free dinner and listen to a sales pitch for a med flight insurance policy. Well as most of you know, free is me, so we listen, and then said no thanks at this time. Back to camper to get to bed so we can get up early for our morning appointment.   Later......

April 10, 2013

It's Wednesday night and boy, how things can change in a day.   Great news!!   By about 1:00 tomorrow (4/11/13) we should be finished all service work.   We can hardly believe that our 2 1/2 week stay here in Red Bay is coming to an end.   I may cry when we leave (not really :)).

This morning we pulled into Bay #17 at 6:45 a.m. to continue the work from yesterday, way to early for either one of us, but we made it.   I made a trip to McDonald's for breakfast and brought Dennis an Egg McMuffin.   We just hung around all morning in the customer lounge checking emails and sharing stories with other folks having their rig worked on too.  At 11:20 a.m., on the dot, the service guys break for lunch, so we decided we would too, and our trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to the original Swamp John's.   Food wasn't too bad, but I think one trip was enough.   Lot's of local "flavor".   About 1:00 we got a call saying our work was finished, so we went flying back to move Buttercup (yes, I know you all think we've lost our minds) back to her campsite.   Dennis then went to check when we could get into the paint department.   He did not come back with a smile on his face.  Said it may be several more days before they could get us in - we were not happy.   However, the good fairy must be watching out for us because about 3:30 we got a knock on the door asking us if we could come tomorrow morning to get the cap rails painted.   I was so excited I told the guy I could kiss him!!!   He asked if we could be there by 7:00 a.m. - we said NO PROBLEM - we will be there come hell or high water!!!!   Which may happen as they are calling for bad storms toward morning - let's hope not!!

Ate dinner at home.  Had Ken's special recipe spaghetti sauce.  I had prepared it at home before we left.   Watched a little TV and going to bed early.   Don't want to be late for our 7:00 a.m. appointment!!!

Just think, the next time we write it may be from a different location!!   Can't wait!

Miss everybody and hope all is well!!  Later......
