Well last night was exciting. The wind was blowing so hard that before we went to bed we pulled in all the slides. We did not want any more wind damage to the awnings. We both slept like babies because it was all warm and cozy. Temperatures dipped to the low 40's, rained all night, we guess, and the winds rocked the motor-home. Now you have to realize that the Buttercup weighs 30,000 lbs. plus so the winds have to be up there to rock it.
Ours is the first one at this campground.
We both awoke around 7:30 and began to start our day. Me showering and Dennis getting another 30 minutes of rest in the bed. After a light breakfast, a muffin, juice and coffee we checked the weather. It didn't look good so I went to the office to sign up for another night. I wasn't the only one, 4 other campers decided to stay as well. Campers were pulling in all morning because it was just too difficult to drive through this wind. Another RV had their awning broken by the wind and had to tie it up.
When I got back to the camper
Dennis was underway trying to fix the awning.
He had put a ladder up on the picnic table to reach the mechanism that holds the cover on the awning when it is closed. He checked both sides and figured that the latch had just come apart. He put it back together and only time will tell if will stay.
So now what do we do for the rest of the day?? You know us, we get in the car and start to investigate the town. We found a free museum near by, called RockPile, it was awesome. Have no idea why it was called Rock Pile because it wasn't any rocks in the place. Neat history items from the Campbell County area.
100's of rifles and shotguns, stirrups, and horse equipment from the 1800's.
Music items.
Pump organ
Dolls
Saddle shop
Dennis sending a message on a telegraph machine.
Robin receiving the message. You will have to ask her what the message was.
A sheep herder's wagon, an early RV
Table to eat on, storage, a stove, and a bed to sleep on.
Stove
Not a bad size covered wagon
Old Bar
Grinding stones.
Old black smith shop.
I can't believe Dennis put this picture in!! I look like a chipmunk! I'll get him!!
Can you believe this was Dennis' fortune cookie message.
Way to true!
After lunch it was off to Walmart. It's always good to go to the store after you eat rather than before so we loaded up on supplies for the trip to South Dakota. From there we went to the movie theater to see what was playing. Nothing interested either one of us so off to the local bowling alley. Yep a bowling alley was right next to the campground.
A few games of fun with me getting the high score of 155, but Dennis winning two of the three games. Enjoyed the activity and the competition.
I was kicking his butt to start with.
Back home at the campground for some wine and cheese before dinner. A little TV, weather station and ABC was all we could get so it could be a long evening. Just heard on the weather station that the Big Horn mountains could receive 2-3 feet, feet of snow tonight. Maybe some cards, hand and foot if could remember how to play it. Hope the weather will improve soon!!!
Night, Night
Robin & Dennis
