Well folks, this was really a bittersweet morning waking up knowing that this was going to be the last day of our Cross Country Trip. But Dennis tried to cheer me up by fixing a big breakfast. Scrambled eggs and our "special Red Bay sausage". That definitely helped!!
So we packed up and hit the road by about 9:30 - Mechanicsville Bound!!! Stopped for lunch at the Goochland Rest Area and turned into Rose Hill 1:30. We got a real laugh as we pulled in front of our house. "Somebody" had put a big ole For Sale/Sold sign on our front lawn. With a "Foreclosed" sign on the front door & an "Unoccupied " sign on the garage!! We about died laughing!! Just can't imagine who would have done it :)))). Certainly not our neighbors :))))!!!!! What a hoot!!
The first job to tackle was unpacking everything, and of course, the day couldn't have been more humid & hot. But we got it done!!
The next job was going through the mountains of mail. You can just imagine 3 months worth!! But thanks to Dee & Don, Gigi & Tom & Chad it wasn't too bad!!
It was an early to bed night for us. We were zonked out in no time!!

Then came the job of cleaning, laundry, washing and finishing waxing. But we got that done too.!! Believe it or not, Dennis was up and at'em at 6:15 this morning, and I was right behind him. Got it all done by mid-afternoon, with him doing most of the work. Sometimes I don't know how he does it!! Chad came over and helped his Dad take Buttercup back to her pen for now.
Can't tell you how much fun it has been writing this Blog. We hope you have enjoyed reading it, and following us on our fabulous Cross Country Trip!!!! Until next time......
So as Porky Pig used say - THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Everybody!!
Up this morning all ready to leave Sweetwater and I decided to give the cheese farm a call. Was excited to find out that it was open on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00. So to kill some time, we went to a local flea market to find some bargains. Dennis found some "miracle" wax and we got some socks. By then it was time to head to the farm!!! What a great place if you are ever in the area. Exit 68 off I-75 in Tennessee. They make great cheese and have a bunch of cows that actually helps provide the milk for the Mayfield Dairy Company (they have great ice cream).
Well, this is the last night of our Cross Country Adventures. We actually have made it back to Virginia, and are staying the night at Dixie Caverns Campground, just south of Roanoke.
What a fabulous trip this has been!! It will be so good to see all of our family and friends who we have really missed since we've been gone. Should be home by tomorrow afternoon. Will publish one more report when we get back!!

We were up and at'em this morning at 5:45a.m.! In the service bay by 7:00. and out by 9. They touched up some of the paint that they had done in March. Went back to check out and pay for our work and then back to the campground. Regrouped a little and decided to take a motorcycle ride because it was such a beautiful day. We jumped on the motorcycle and rode towards Belmont, MS for lunch.
What a neat little place with some great food, The Belmont Café.
We both tried the cheese burgers and fries, delicious. Then Chad called with our weekly mail review and update on this and that.
After that we were back on the bike and headed to the Nachez Trace. We had gone south before but we had not gone North towards Nashville, so we were on our way.
Rode on it for 45 minutes north or so, then east, and finally south back to Red Bay. Great ride for sure, we only made two stops, one for gas and one at the county line store. Red Bay is a dry county so we had to make a pit stop before we got back in the county. Well we made it back to the campground in Red Bay and had the strangest thing happen. You won't believe this story but it was one of our highlights and most memorable experiences that we have had on our trip and it tops the list for Red Bay.
We had just gotten off the bike and had started to open up the door to put our helmets away when a gentleman pulled up in a white Cadillac. He had a few years on him, as well as the car, and a old straw hat. He rolled down his window and asked if we liked old things. I responded with yes and with that he invited us to visit his old gas station. I told him to give us about 15 minutes and we would be by. Robin said, what!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said it will be alright and what else are we going to to do this afternoon. It was about 3 pm and we headed to his place. Well, I can't give a lot of details about the location because it is a jewel in the rough for sure. We were looking for what we thought he had described but we had it wrong, it was a replica of an old filling station behind his house. Of course we both looked at each other and said what are we doing. But I will tell you again this was an awesome experience.
He met us at the door and said come on in and offered us a seat at the checker table and began to share his stories.
He shared that he was on a camping trip out in California and a couple had befriended him in a strange place so he knew he was going to do the same when he got back to Red Bay and has done it since he built this station in 1992. After he built it he began to fill it with all kind of items that he had collected since the 50's. It was unbelievable listening to these fascinating stories of certain items that he had purchased, you know the where and why. Just look at the pictures.
An original, never been hung before he purchased it, porcelain sign.
An antique jack used on buggies.
It started to rain so we sat some more and he shared some more. He told us that he had served in WWII, worked for his father in land development, and then became a guidance counselor and teacher. After it finished raining he wanted to show a couple more things in another garage behind the filling station, but he did not want Robin to mess up her shoes so she got the special treatment.
Well look what was in the garage, awesome, a 29 and 30 Ford.
After that he said he wanted to show us what defines the meaning of being at the "Right place at the Right time. He had looked for a 57 Chevy for most of his life and couldn't find one until just a few years ago he was at a car show and saw this sweet looking one, but saw another man talking to the owner so he backed off. After the potential buyer left he approached the man and asked if the car was for sale. The owner said the other gentleman had to go and ask his wife so it was still for sale. He named his price and the guy took a $500 dollar deposit and the deal was done. He said he got it for a great price because the owner was dying and was getting his affairs in order and needed to get rid of it. The right place at the right time. Look at this mint condition car.
He then invited us in to meet his wife who was from Germany, and then another pride and joy. It was a Gulf gas pump in mint and original condition.
A few more items in the house were shared along with a story or two. Well began to say our good byes and exchanged information and I gave him one of my corn hole business cards and then he told us about a game he used to play with metal washers many years ago. He said the washers were in abundance because they came off the buggies back in the day. He took us back down to the garage and found about twenty of them and handed them to me and explained the game. He asked if I had any use for them and I told him I would try and make the washer game for sure. I then asked him if I could give him something and his response was simply, a "thank you is usually good enough for me". Of course I thanked him for the washers as well as the hospitality. We told him if we come back to Red Bay, and I am sure we will, we would go out to dinner to listen and share some more stories. I bet we were there two and a half hours and enjoyed every minute.
Back at the campground and it was dinner, TV, blog, and bed because we were headed to Birmingham the next day.

Can you believe it, its three months today since we left Mechanicsville. Off to Birmingham to see my nephew Bryan and my brother, Butch and his wife, Pat. It's about a 2 hour drive so we left about 9 and arrived around 11 and visited a little bit before the four of us went to lunch while Bryan rested. It was right in the bottom of the apartment complex. It was called ROJO's and served sandwiches.
After lunch we went back up stairs and visited and showed pictures and videos to everyone. Bryan wanted to take a walk so we did and then jumped in the car and toured around a little. Soon it was time for an early dinner and then ice cream for dessert. A few more pictures then it was off to Red Bay. Also, was glad to get to see Trina for a little bit, Bryans girlfriend.

Yea!!!! We're up and leaving Red Bay this morning. While Dennis started packing up the bicycles and motorcycle I went to the grocery store and purchased a few items we needed for the trip home. Yes, can you imagine it is time to head home. We headed towards Chattanooga, most specifically Sweetwater TN. There is a cheese farm that I want to stop at but when we got to the campground we found out we were too late to go today and its closed on Sunday. Shoot! After dinner we took a walk around the campground and saw a pond. Dennis said get your fishing rod so we did.
You won't believe it if we told you, we both caught a fish. It was a catch and release but it was all we could do not sneak these big boys into the frying pan.
A little news and off to bed. Exhausted from hauling and fighting the fish for sure. Night, Night

And then he showed us the two 1926 Fords.

So we sat on the work stools and heard about the Chevy that he is restoring. Miss Irene as he called it belonged to his third grade teacher.
After that he said he wanted to show us what defines the meaning of being at the "Right place at the Right time. Up early, hoping for "the call", but so far, nothing. Got a lot of rain overnight! Thought we were going to float away, but all looked ok this morning. Ate a little breakfast - tried to watch CBS news, but it comes & goes. So we turned it off and headed to the Customer Lounge to work on the blog and check emails. I miss having WIFI at the campsite. Got a little more rain during the day. Then back home for a little lunch. Just piddled around - sat outside and watched the traffic. It was so bad we started playing games with the cars going by. I would take left, Dennis took right - 1st one to get to 10 cars going by won. Then the first 10 white cars vs. the first 10 red cars. Yes, we were a little bored. Had leftover spaghetti for dinner. TV and to bed!!
Sorry, no pictures either. We're getting lazy!!! We'll do better tomorrow :)).

Well, believe it or not, Dennis was up early this morning to put some wax on Buttercup before the sun got too hot. While we were eating breakfast - we got a call to come to Service Bay #40 for them to check the front jacks. So we quickly packed up and headed on over. Before we knew it, they had Buttercup up in the air to get underneath.
I stayed in the lounge checking emails and talking with other folks having their coach worked on too. They all have their stories and most have pets. Well, today one lady had brought in her cockatoo (big cage and all) and one lady had her pet pig. Of course many dogs and even a cat. It was like a petting zoo in there today :)).
Several hours later we had two new front jacks!! We're really making progress now!! Next item to tackle will be a paint issue. Supposed to get a call later this afternoon - maybe!! Went back to our site and had lunch. Got a call saying it was too late this afternoon, and to be in Service Bay #28 at 7:00 am tomorrow. Ughh!! Then Dennis went to pick up the motorcycle across the street. He had a tune up and put a new tire on the back. Then we took a bicycle ride. Was a little hot!! Came back home so Dennis could continue waxing on the side in the shade. Poor Dennis' shoulder was hurting again - guess it'll be Advil tonight!! Went to the 4th Street Grille Steakhouse for dinner. Not bad!
Then it was up to the laundry room (for the WIFI) since the lounge is closed for the day. Working on the Blog and checking emails. Will be an early to bed night tonight. Just think, tomorrow might be our last day here (for now)!!!!!!!!!!

Well, what a day this has been!!! Got Buttercup prepared for a night without us. Dennis also took the motorcycle across the street to a nearby cycle shop for a tune up and a new tire. We hopped in the car and left Red Bay around 10:30 heading for Nashville!!!! Grand Ole Opry here we come!!!
Took the "Briley Parkway" in honor of our neighbor's - Tom & Peggy :))
Got to Nashville around 2:30. Found a room at the Fiddler's Inn near the Opry House.
Rested a bit until it was time for dinner. Went to a place called John A's right by the hotel.
Then headed over to find a good parking place. Even though we had been there before, it was still exciting!! Saw "Minnie Pearl" and "Hank Williams, Sr." out front before we went in.
Picked up our tickets at "Will Call" and went to find our seats.
Don't know how, but we lucked out having seats right on the end of the row on the main floor, not far from the stage!!
As you may or may not know, the Grand Ole Opry is actually a live radio show. WSM 650 AM. Commercials and everything. You can even tune into it on your computer. It was awesome!!
Loretta Lynn, Patty Loveless, Vince Gill, Pure Prairie League and a bunch of others!!! I was able to go down front a lot to take some pictures. Thought I would die when I heard Loretta since "Coal Miner's Daughter". Dressed in all white, she looked like a princess!! They all did a great job and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole show. Even got to see Clare Bowen sing several songs. She plays Scarlett on the show "Nashville". Vince Gill sang with most of them. What a voice he has!! Then they recognized Patty Loveless' 25th anniversary of being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
Sing it Loretta!!!
Vince Gill - Patty Loveless -Pure Praire League and others!
Clare Bowen - Stars on the TV show "Nashville" as Scarlett

What a great show - one we'll never forget!!!! I'm still on cloud 9 thinking about it.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's!
Happy Birthday to Chad!
Dennis received his Fathers Day call from Chad, Scott, and Kevin wishing him a Happy Fathers Day.
Back on the road to Red Bay after a great night at the Grand Ole Opry. Stopped at WMAC for an egg muffin and then hit the road. ( That would be a McDonald's fixed up like a radio station :)).
Once we arrived in Red Bay had a little lunch and then Dennis washed the car. He waited until the sun went down and then washed and waxed the roof top of Buttercup. While he was up there he discovered the paint was chipping on the driver side where they had painted in March. Oh well, guess that will be redone and covered by Tiffin..
Dennis' shoulder is hurting tonight , so it was Advil , spaghetti dinner and in the bed by 9:00.

Dennis was up early washing Buttercup and waxing one side. Just as he finished we got a call from Tiffin to head to Service Bay #8. Yeah!!!!! Had to do a quick pack up and off we went. Was a footlong from Subway for lunch. Fortunately, they were able to take care of most everything in about 3 hours. Still have several other items to take care of. Probably another day or two wait. So it was back to our campsite and Dennis proceeded to wax Buttercup's other side. She was sure looking good!! I then got to thinking what we were going to have for dinner, so I hopped in the car and went to Big Star. Got some pork chops to grill. About that time, the skies opened up so no eating outside tonight. Then it was our usual routine of TV and early to bed.
