August 28, 2013 - Wednesday
Bedford, Pennsylvania
Friendship Village Campground

Well folks,  we're backkkkkkkkk!!!    I know you've missed hearing from us!    We arrived here in Bedford, PA Tuesday afternoon.  The Friendship Village Campground!!   Got a beautiful view of the lake and hills in the distance.   Buttercup and Dennis did a great job on the drive up.  Was only about a  4.5 hour drive.   Trying to get back in the swing of things.   Especially since we got a call from our neighbor, Jenny, that we had left our garage door open yesterday!!   Yes, old age is setting in :)).  But, another neighbor (Dee & Don) came to our rescue and shut the door for us.   Thanks Dee & Don!!!   What would we do with out you??    But I'm sure Mom will be driving by to check on things too :)!!!

Had steaks on the grill for dinner!!   Watched a little TV and then to bed!!    Had rain during the night.   Sure does make for good sleeping hearing it on the roof :)).

Well, the rain seems to want to continue today.   Been raining all morning!!   Wanted to go to a farmers market in Bedford, but it's a little to yucky, so here we sit for now.   Had breakfast (bowl of cereal), watched a little TV, then played Bingo.   Yes, Bingo!!

Our friends, the Hutton's, will arrive on Friday to join us for a few days over the Labor Day Weekend.   Can't wait to see them!!   It's been a while.   Each year we pick a place to meet them and their 3 children (the Bingo game is actually for them, but I couldn't wait to play :)).    Had to check it out you know!!   They'll park their 5th wheel next to ours.   Looking forward to it!!

Well, the rain let up a little so we decided to go to the local farmers market in downtown Bedford.    There were a few brave souls still there despite the rain.   Picked up some corn and tomatoes for the weekend.  Then with umbrellas in hand, went to check out some of the shops.

I am sure Dennis was thrilled, but he was a real trooper :)).   Had a great little pizza for lunch at the neighborhood pizza kitchen.

Walked around a little more - by then we were getting a little wet and headed back to the car.   Rode around a bit - found the local WalMart and True Value - stocked up on a couple things.  Even went to an indoor flea market which had everything from A to Z.
A famous landmark coffee pot on Rt. 30
                                                   The old Lincoln Highway

Then it was back home to fix dinner.   Pulled out the Lodge Dutch oven and tried a new recipe.   Pork chops/onions/potatoes in a mushroom sauce.   You just heat up some charcoal, put the ingredients in, and let her cook!!!   Was yummy!!

We brought our bicycle built for two, so after dinner we hopped on and rode all around the campground.
Then was back home for a little TV, ice cream and to bed!!
 Night, Night!!!!

August 29, 2013 - Thursday

Good Morning!!!!
We were a little lazy this morning - didn't get up until around 8:30!!!   Dennis fried bacon on the grill while I cooked scrambled eggs inside.   Yes, we're going to be fat little pigs by the time we get back.   Good thing we had our annual blood work done before we left :)).

Well, we found out some sad news - our friends Kevin & Jamie and their 3 children might not be able to come to meet us for the weekend.   They're having electrical problems with their RV.   Kevin is going to try to get someone to work on it today, so we'll see what happens later.

While reading the Bedford County Visitors Guide, I found the Shawnee State Park just down the rode from us a few miles. So we packed a picnic lunch, hopped on the motorcycle and off we went for another adventure!!!     The weather was nice and sunny - a little humid but not too bad.   Had our lunch and then started our trek.   Made it all the way around the lake with no problem and back home to Buttercup!!
There is a hiking path, the Lake Shore Trail - 3.5 miles long.   We said "we can do it"!!!

A little lunch first, it could be our last meal before
                                                 the "big hike"

Clowning around on the bridge. Get down from there.

Then it was back on the motorcycle and headed to the campground. Oh we just had to stop at the ice cream place since we walked 3.5 miles, we deserve it. I got orange flavor and Dennis got blackberry.

Finally back to the campground, rested a while and then hopped back on the motorcycle.
Headed to one of our favorite restaurants
                                                         Slick's Ivystone  Restaurant!!!!!

We ate there several years ago and couldn't wait to go back.   It's a family restaurant that serves good ole family style food.   Tonight Dennis got country style ribs and I got their famous fried chicken.   They bring you 3 different kinds of bread, raisin bread with icing/yeast rolls & cornbread, unlimited salad bowl & our meals.   It was delicious!!!   Dennis was going to have seconds on the ribs, but the waitress said they had just run out - so she brought him chocolate mousse instead.   You know he was happy then!!!!   Again, we were fat & happy when we left.

Back home safely and got a call from our friend Kevin.   Unfortunately, he said he could not get their RV fixed and they would not be coming.   Bummer!!!   We were all really looking forward to getting together and spending the weekend together, but it just wasn't meant to be.   But hopefully we'll do it soon.   Kevin, Jamie, Aiden, Addison & Easton - we'll miss you!!!!!!!    We'll have a s'more for you by the campfire :)).

A little TV and then to bed.

Night Night
